The Missouri Experience begins!

The Lord directs Joseph Smith to go to Missouri, and to take others along with him. The Lord reveals to Joseph that a temple will be built, and He will gather His people to this place. Those that traveled with Joseph are given specific assignments to help establish Zion in Missouri.

In this video, I share the personal stories of these men which stand as testimonies to their faith in the work.

Section 49 seems like it is full of random tidbits of doctrine. But, when you know the full story as to why the Lord revealed Section 49, and the fascinating story of what happened after the revelation was received, it becomes clear as to why the Lord made the points he did for those early Saints and for us today.

I call Section 50 our Handbook of Instruction for knowing how to receive personal revelation.

In this week’s video of Beyond Come Follow Me, I share the background Church History stories of Sections 46-48 plus a couple of stories about Joseph Smith that you may not have heard before.

Section 46 can help each of us determine our own “gifts of the spirit” and how to use those gifts to bless our lives and those around us.

 

In this week’s Beyond Come Follow Me lesson, Joseph and Emma have moved to the Isaac Morley Farm where Joseph will receive 13 Sections of the Doctrine and Covenants, the 4 General Conference of the Church will be held, and the Father and Son both appear.

In Section 45, the Lord commands Joseph to translate the New Testament. This will fulfil the prophecy found in 1 Nephi 13:32. I’ll share the story of this work, and the miraculous events which allow us to have the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible today.

The infant Church officially moves to Kirtland. Joseph finds dozens of anxious members of the Church who have embraced the restored gospel, and hundreds of curious people who will soon join the Church. These four revelations provide some of the first instructions to the growing Church. Understanding the history or what was going on helps make clear what the Lord is teaching those early Saints and how we can liken these truths to our own lives. Hear the personal stories of those that were there, and their testimonies that live forever.
