“Consider your ways.” Understanding the setting in which this phrase given can teach us more about the atonement of Jesus Christ. The stories and the doctrine taught in this week’s Come Follow Me lesson parallel perfectly with what President Nelson has been teaching us. Plus, one of my favorite stories from Church history.

These three Old Testament prophets describe unpleasant and frightful events. But though it all, they also teach of the love and mercy of the Lord. They teach how the Lord keeps a perfect balance between Justice and Mercy. These teaching make me think of two stories from Church History which I share in the video as well.

I see the story of “Jonah and the Whale” as a perfect way to illustrate how the atonement works daily for us individually. By including quotes from President Nelson, Lehi, Moroni, and the Savior, we can better comprehend the power that is available to us through the atonement.

What really is a prophet, seer, and revelator? How can hearing their voice help us in our daily life? In referring to His prophet, the Lord has said, “Whether by my own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.”

Joel’s prophecies of the Second Coming are unfolding right before our very eyes. President Nelson has recently told us what to do right now in our lives, which is the very thing Joel told us that we need to do right before the Second Coming.
